Heated container for oil storage and distribution on mobile fleet

The customer did not have a distribution system for their mobile equipment outdoors. They had to transfer the oil from totes and barrels. The containers were kept outside affected by the weather and filtering the oil prior to or during the transfer was not an option and the oil viscosity was affected and slowed the transfer process.

Customer’s concerns or issues

Danger of environmental leaks and unfiltered oil created equipment failures

Because the totes and barrels were kept on the ground and moved around frequently it increased the risk of environmental spills. The oil transferred was not prefiltered thus increasing the risk of equipment component failures and affecting production. Finally, during the winter months, low temperatures made the transfer process harder and longer.

Benefits of our solution

Heated container with oil reservoirs to facilitate oil distribution

We created a heated space within a container including in-line filtration with assigned reservoirs for specific oils and antifreeze to facilitate the transfer and to have everything in a self-contained environment eliminating the risks of environmental events. They had to handle millions of liters of oil managed in totes of 1000L and barrels of 205L.

Contamination of hydraulic systems on Jumbo underground drilling rig

Jumbo underground drilling rigs’ hydraulic lubricants are contaminated by dust and water during operations. Preventative oil changes are therefore carried out during maintenance to address problems. Oil analysis showed that contamination levels were high.
